JCRC-NM partnered with Mayor Michael Garcia and the City of Santa Fe to recognize Jewish American Heritage Month in May with a special proclamation ceremony celebrating the rich contributions of the Jewish community to the cultural, civic, and social life of Santa Fe and New Mexico. The gathering brought together community leaders, residents, and supporters for an inspiring celebration of Jewish heritage, identity, and community connection.
Speakers included Mayor Garcia, JCRC-NM Director Juan Dircie, and Rabbi Neil Amswych (Temple Beth Shalom) who reflected on the history of the local Jewish community and the importance of Jewish visibility, partnership, and civic engagement in New Mexico.
A moving moment came when Cantor Cindy Freedman (HaMakom) filled the room with a beautiful Jewish melody, inviting everyone present to join in song and celebration, creating a powerful sense of shared community.
JCRC-NM is honored to help lead efforts that elevate Jewish life and strengthen relationships across New Mexico through education, advocacy, and public engagement.
